The Wagner Varsity Girls and Boys delivered an outstanding performance at the NEISD XC meet this Saturday held at the Northeast Sports Complex, capturing a deserved second place overall. This was a challenging course that consist of 4 hillside encounters throughout the course. Leading the Lady T-Birds with an outstanding pacing start was Lillyanna Terry (Senior) and not too far behind her was Zoe Maricle (sophomore) who stayed within sight of her teammate throughout the course. Like last week's meet, Lillyanna and Zoe Maricle finished in the top 15 and medaled once again. Also packed in the race to the finish was Ella Yamagata (senior), Marina Avalos (freshman) and Luna Hernandez (senior) contributing to earning their medal as a team as well. This was truly a great demonstration of a collective effort from each runner. This finish is a testament to the countless hours each athlete put in during the summer month of training and hard work. The atmosphere at the meet was electric with parents, friends and teammates cheering them on as they fought toward the finish line.
Next meet will take place at Edgewood Relays were the team get to work hard and have fun at the same time running a 2-mile relay course. This race is a relay that will consist of 3 members running 2 miles each. There will be 5 teams of 3 members competing! The Lady T-Birds teams hope to build on their momentum and strive for higher places in the future. Congratulations to the entire team, JV included for a job well done!
