**Wagner Cross Country Girls Soar to Second Place with Record-Breaking Performances***Wagner, September 28, 2024* – The Wagner High School Girls Cross Country team delivered an outstanding performance at the recent meet, clinching second place overall and setting individual meet bests for each team member. The highlight of the day was senior Lillyanna Terry’s remarkable achievement as she shattered the school record, further solidifying her status as one of the top runners.
The competition was fierce, but the Wagner girls exhibited exceptional teamwork and determination throughout the race. Each athlete pushed their limits, resulting in every team member recording their personal best times. Coach Meosha Crawford praised the team’s commitment and the positive atmosphere they fostered, saying, “The girls really came together and supported one another. Their hard work in practice paid off today, and it was incredible to see them all surpass their previous records.” Other Teammates who set personal records and contributed today were Zoe Maricle 19:53.77, who took 7th place over all, Rianha Constante 20:44.52, Ella Yamagata 21:12.76, Marina Avalos 21:17.90, Luna Hernandez 22:11.19 and Maddisyn Toms 22:59.47.
Lillyanna Terry led the charge, finishing the race with a blazing time of 19:27.27, which not only earned her a top spot in the individual standings but also eclipsed the previous school record held since 2010. Terry’s performance is a testament to her dedication and relentless pursuit of excellence. “I was just focused on doing my best for the team,” Terry remarked after the race. “Breaking the record was an amazing bonus, but we all ran our hearts out today.”
